Number of nanotechnology-related publications in ISI journals is a criterion for countries’s assessment in nanotechnology area. This numberreflects scientific activities in the area and acts as an indicator to determine nanotechnology development trends over time.
The indicator will be monitored and presented monthly for ECO countries in this site.
The table below gives the number of nanotechnology-related articles published in ISI journals as well as the proportion of nano-articles to all scientific articles during first half of 2008 and 2009 by Eco countries.

Based on the table, ECO countries can be categorized in three groups:
Active members (Iran and Turkey): Nano-articles > 100
Semi active members (Pakistan, Uzbekistan, Azerbaijan, Kazakhstan and Tajikistan): Nano-articles < 100
During January to June in 2008, the shares of nano-articles of all scientific articles were less than 1% in all countries, while at the same period in 2009 this share was1.77% in Iran. Pakistan, Uzbekistan and Azerbaijan (among semi active countries) published nano-articles in 2009 roughly twice more than the same period in 2008.
Performances of active members are satisfactory while semi-active and passive members need to be assistedby ECO.
