The 1^st Meeting of the Steering Committee on Establishment of ECO Nanotechnology Network (ECO-NAN) was held on 05 November, 2009, in ECO Secretariat, Tehran, and hosted by the Iran Nanotechnology Initiative Council (INIC) and Technology Cooperation Office - Presidency of the Islamic Republic of Iran. The delegates from the Islamic Republic of Iran, the Republic of Kazakhstan, the Republic of Turkey as well as representatives of the ECO Secretariat participated in the Meeting.

The meeting convinced:

1-     to define some joint projects in the area of interest for member states. In this respect, the representative of the Islamic Republic of Iran agreed to submit a study plan on water purification in period of three months. The Republic of Turkey also agreed to consider submitting a study plan on application of nanotechnology in protection and preservation of cultural heritages.

2-     to enhance cooperation amongst member states like joint training workshops, seminars, conferences and high level experts group meetings

The place and date of 2^nd Meeting of the Steering Committee will be determined by ECO Secretariat.
